Birthday Shopping With Four Year Olds
I love going shopping for a birthday present with my 4yr old children. It’s their favorite aunt’s, Aunt Mikie, birthday so we went looking today. It’s amazing how everything that aunt Mikie might want is exactly what they would want. Joseph thought she would like a book about trains, he has train on the brain. My daughter Rose thought that some “Backyardigans” toys would do the trick and my son Michael insisted that she wanted this strange wizard puppet he came across. We didn’t make a final decision today, I didn’t have a clue on what to get her so I’ll defer the decision until my wife gets involved.
I’m really lousy with this sort of thing, especially for other women, and usually cop out with a gift card. I’m trying to get out of that habit. Rich people in the movies always have an easy time of it. In the movies the rich guy will just show up with this $20,000 bracelet or a pair of four carat diamond earrings. God if only life was that simple.
Who am I kidding, I would’ve kept the twenty grand and still got the gift card. Not that I’m cheap but, hey, it’s twenty grand! I could buy a lot of things that I want for that kind of money.
So I guess I’m no different than my 4yr olds.
The card was no problem, the triplets all went for the same one. It had a huge birthday cake on it and it was completely covered, every square inch, with lit birthday candles. Oh, she’s really gonna love this one.

Surprise, for some reason I am allowed to access your blog today! What a hilarious post, the kids, you, all of it. Too funny. It was like reading about Chopper taking our boys shopping.
Thanks.

The card sounds lovely. Maybe buy her some nice socks?
